Yiwu: Seeking high-tech cooperation for development Yiwu-Agent.ORG reports: Yiwu is now seeking high-tech cooperation for development. Without cooperation, China Yiwu international trade city can not develop. Said by Yiwu City leader, Mr. Wu Weirong. On August 28, 2008 Mr. Ba Denian, Principal of Medicine School of Zhejiang University and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Mr. Zhu Shiqiang, deputy director of Committee of Regional Cooperation of Zhejiang University led a 5-member delegation to Yiwu for an offical visit. The two sides had a conversation on how to advance the cooperation in the fields of medical treatment, economy, and technology, etc. Cooperation on the project of hospital of International Trade Mart was extensively discussed. In September, 2003, Yiwu government had signed agreement with Zhejiang University to realize all-round cooperation and commercialization of research findings. More than 80 projects were carried out during the five years’ cooperation between the two sides and 31 enterprise research centers were established. Only in 7 years, Zhejiang Zhengwei Food Co., Ltd, a local food enterprise of Yiwu city, has developed to be the largest condiment manufacturer of Zhejiang Province and the fifth largest in China. The key reason is their years’ cooperation with Zhejiang University, one of the nation’s best universities, in aspects of new products development, technology innovation and quality control etc. Now, there are up to 50 Yiwu technology-intensive enterprises have kinds of cooperation with Zhejiang University. Relying on the research ability of Zhejiang University, Yiwu will stick to gain technology breakthroughs in some local pillar industries, for instance, toys, jewelries and craftworks. |
